Premier League Title Race: Arsenal Close Gap on City

·2 min read

Arsenal delivered a statement performance at Stamford Bridge, dismantling Chelsea 3-1 to close the gap on Premier League leaders Manchester City to just two points with 12 games remaining.

Bukayo Saka opened the scoring with a stunning long-range strike in the 23rd minute, before Martin Odegaard doubled the lead just before half-time with a perfectly placed curling effort from the edge of the box. Although Chelsea pulled one back through Cole Palmer early in the second half, Kai Havertz sealed the victory with a towering header in the 78th minute.

The result moves Arsenal to within touching distance of City, who face a tricky trip to Newcastle next weekend. With the two title rivals set to meet at the Etihad in March, this season's Premier League title race is shaping up to be one of the most compelling in recent memory.

Manager Mikel Arteta praised his team's mentality: "We showed incredible character and quality today. This group of players believes they can win the title, and performances like this prove they have what it takes."

The victory also extended Arsenal's unbeaten run in the league to 14 matches, a streak that has transformed their season after a slow start.
